Hearts of the Fathers

It is 1946. Before the Soviet Red Army seals off East Germany, LDS mission president Erick Ranke must recover a treasure far more valuable than gold or art—genealogical records stolen by Hitler from Germany’s churches.

Gerda Brendler seeks her only son, taken years earlier by the Nazis because of his perfect Aryan characteristics. Berlin-born Levi Zuckerman, a Jewish Soviet soldier, fears the worst as he searches for his parents. Levi saves Gerda from a brutal attack, but nearly kills two Red Army soldiers in the process. Gerda and Levi hide in the mission home, where they fall in love and help President Ranke with his quest.

Lives are inextricably connected in this thrilling World War II novel about the power of covenants and conviction.
